How do I hire from Parkes Hire (G A Parke & Sons)?
Hiring from us is very straight forward. Whether you contact us by phone or call in person, you’ll be made most welcome. There are a few formalities to complete if you haven’t been with us before. We’ll need a deposit payable either by cash, cheque accompanied by cheque card, credit or debit card. Identification is also required and our staff will be pleased to explain what you’ll need.
I’ve never hired before and feel daunted about the experience.
Our ultimate objective is customer satisfaction and we aim to make the experience of hiring from us one that will attract you back again and again. All staff coming in contact with customers have been trained in customer care and all counter staff and drivers are fully acquainted with the equipment they are handing over. You’ll be fully instructed in the safe and proper use of the equipment you hire and you’re welcome to try it - without obligation - before you hire.
I’m a contractor new to the area, how quickly can I get hiring?
We deal with a significant number of new customers every year who move into the area to do work; some are here for a short period of time, others on a more permanent basis. If your job is short term, we can get you hiring straightaway once you have provided us with your credit card details and proof of your companies address. An account can also be opened; this is very straight forward but will take slightly longer.
What more have you to offer than your competitors?
We’re a family owned and run company with a strong customer care ethos. We’re a single depot operation based on a 3 acre site housing the largest range of equipment in the area. We also operate the largest transport fleet which gives us added versatility. As an illustration of our capability, we have been involved in every major construction project in the North West over the past thirty years. We have provided for the construction of all the cities major shopping centres and retail parks, the Foyle Bridge and the refurbishment of the Craigavon Bridge, the construction of the new Coolkeeragh Power Station and the destruction of its predecessor as well as the erection of a number of Wind Farms and Dams throughout Donegal. Of course size is relative so we can also say we have been involved in many hundreds of major and minor projects in and around the home as well.
What are your opening times?
We’re open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 5.00pm and on Saturdays, 8.00am to 12.00pm.
How do I find you?
Finding us isn’t difficult. We’re situated on the edge of the village of Newbuildings, nearly opposite the Vehicle Inspection Centre. If you’re travelling from L'derry, follow signs for Strabane as you leave the city’s Waterside. Your route will take you along the A5 which will pass the Everglades Hotel. Approximately a mile further along, you will reach the village of Newbuildings. Proceed through the traffic lights and as you leave the village, the industrial estate—which we’re situated in—is on the left-hand side.
Travelling from Strabane your route will take you east along the A5 through the villages of Ballymagorry, Bready and Magheramason. As you enter the village of Newbuildings, the industrial estate is immediately on the right-hand side.

Do you operate a delivery service?
We have a fleet of specialised vehicles to transport equipment. Please contact us for delivery costs.
What about hire rates?
We all know price is important and we carefully monitor our pricing to ensure that we maintain a competitive advantage. We offer a high quality service backed up by experienced, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Our equipment is modern and well maintained. Our policy is to deliver a good service at a fair price.
Do you accept euro payments?
We most certainly do. We hire equipment quite frequently into Donegal and accept payment by either euro cheque accompanied by cheque card, euro cash or credit card.
